KULTURA (Culture newspaper)

"The first issue of Russian Art is, unquestionably, an event. In this journal are the now virtually forgotten landscape artist Vasily Perepletchikov and sculptor Nadezhda Krandiyevskaya. Here also is Igor Grabar, who in 1924 organized a great exhibition of Russian art in America and for the first time, reproductions of works by Arkady Plastov, lyric painter of the Russian countryside. And how can one fail to mention the memoir by one of the most talented poets of the 1960s, Vladimir Aleinikov, or of the greatly gifted Vladimir Yakovlev. Or the interview with Natalia Kostaki, daughter of Georgy Dionisovich Kostaki, thanks to whom a great swath of ancient icons and the works of the Russia avant-garde were saved. Our hats are off to Russian Art. It has set a very high standard, indeed."

ROSSISKIYE VESTI (Russian News newspaper)

"All who love Russian art met today in the famous hall of the Russian Cultural Foundation, where Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky once played, and where the best musicians, poets and artists of Russia once had their day. They were present to witness a quite extraordinary event - the rebirth of the journal Russian Art.

"...In this day of the mass culture of imitations, pop art, and show business, this new journal helps remind us of authentic art..."

"...The just published first issue offers readers a chance to become acquainted with unique and varied material on the history of Russian 20th century art, within a context provided by wonderfully reproduced illustrations."

LITERATURNAYA GAZETA (Literature Gazette newspaper)

"1923. The last clashes of the Civil War just over. Famine and deprivation fading. NEP. And among the signs of the new time - the appearance of a journal, Russian Art, splendid both in content, design and production..."

"And now, 80 years later, a group of art specialists headed by Olga Kostina has brought Russian Art back under the aegis of EDIPRESSE-KONLIGA. It is clear from this first issue, launched at the Russian Cultural Foundation, that we have before us an outstanding journal of art."
